Scope:
Project drafting
Location:
MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY

Definition and design of subsea pipelines for transporting hydrocarbons from the Marine Terminal to the onshore Refinery. Four X46 steel pipelines with concrete coating for ballast were designed. • 24″ steel pipeline (fuel oil and, exceptionally, crude oil). • 20″ steel pipeline (gas oil). • 20″ steel pipeline (gasolines and LPG). • 8″ “service” steel pipeline for interfaces or pigging/purging (fuel oil heating or gas oil). • Length of each: ≈ 2,225 m submerged + 225 m above groundStudy of construction alternatives: • Prefabrication and laying from a vessel, with the vessel in motion. (Rejected due to insufficient draft in the laying area). • Onshore pipe prefabrication and launch and seabed pull to sea (bottom pull) • Prefabrication and laying from a vessel and seabed pull (bottom pull). (Fixed vessel anchored to the seabed).
