The Variant Tender Project is drafted to achieve a more optimal design for closing the wharf included in the Project with the existing Manuel Leirós Wharf.
The project includes the extension of Leirós Wharf No. 2 by 30.37 metres with a draft of 12 metres at BMVE, to support, perpendicularly to the south, a 283-metre-long berthing wharf with a draft of 15 metres at BMVE.
In this Variant Project, the submerged concrete caisson of the base solution design is replaced by a structure formed by a stepped submerged concrete wall.
In this way, the need for adapting caisson formwork is avoided, and a perfect connection between the two wharves is ensured, as it is concreted against two caissons.
