The project involves the design of the submarine pipelines for the future desalination and wastewater treatment plant serving the districts of Punta Hermosa, Punta Negra, San Bartolo and Santa María, including the intake structure and the diffuser section. The pipeline characteristics are: • Material: PE100. • Pipeline definition: intake Øe=1200 mm. Discharge Øe=900 mm supported on the seabed and Øe=800 mm in tunnel. • Length: 779 m discharge and 517 m intake. • Maximum flows (Phase II): intake: 1.23 m3/s and discharge: 1.5 m3/s • Diffuser composed of 5 riser pipes with double outlets. A detailed study has been carried out of the following aspects: • Study of the construction process (horizontal directional drilling and pipeline laying). • Study of discharge dilution (brine, treated wastewater and both together). • Literature review of benthos in the area. • Intake structure (Johnson or Euroslot type).
