MARITIME CLIMATE AND RECIRCULATION STUDY USING NUMERICAL MODEL FOR THE JUBAIL DESALINATION PLANT (PHASE 3A & 3B OF 600,000 M3/D)

Two studies are conducted to serve as the basis for the desalination plant tender. The studies conducted are as follows: • Wave study: Based on deep-water wave data, design wave conditions associated with return periods of 1, 10, 50, and 100 years are propagated using the SWAN model. All possible directions are propagated. Results are obtained at 3 points in the project area. • Recirculation study: This includes the design of the diffuser to comply with environmental legislation and a comprehensive recirculation study, which ensures that with the defined intake location, there is no brine recirculation. This study takes into account the discharge from the existing plant, Jubail-Phase I. The MOHID model is used.
