MARITIME CLIMATE AND RECIRCULATION STUDY USING A NUMERICAL MODEL FOR THE RABIGH DESALINATION PLANT (PHASE 4/5 OF 600,000 m3/day)

[bloque_categoria_proyecto]
Scope:
Numerical modeling. Baseline study
Location:
Rabigh (Saudi Arabia)

A series of studies are carried out to serve as the basis for the tendering process for the desalination plant. The studies performed are as follows:
• Wave study: Based on deep-water wave data, the SWAN model is used to propagate the design waves associated with return periods of 1, 10, 50 and 100 years. All possible directions are propagated. The results are obtained at the future intake and outfall points for phases 4 and 5.
• Recirculation study: This includes diffuser design to comply with environmental legislation and a comprehensive recirculation study, ensuring that, with the defined intake location, there is no brine recirculation. The MOHID model is used. Both the future phases 4 and 5 and phase 3, currently under construction, are simulated.
