DISPERSION, FLOODING, AND EROSION STUDIES FOR THE LOS MINA COMBINED CYCLE POWER PLANT. SANTO DOMINGO (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC)

[bloque_categoria_proyecto]
Scope:
Detail engineering
Location:
Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic)

The study is divided into two parts: 1. DISPERSION STUDY: To analyze the thermal dispersion of the effluent discharge from the Los Mina Combined Cycle Power Plant into the Ozama River. The MOHID model is employed. The objective of this part is to evaluate the required temperature at the plant’s discharge point to comply with temperature guarantees (not to increase the river temperature by more than 3°C at 100 m from the effluent entry point into the river). 2. FLOODING AND EROSION STUDY: To analyze the flooding and erosion of the ravine and the Ozama River caused by a 100-year return period rainfall event. The HEC-RAS 4.1.0 model developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is employed.
