Construction design of the intake pipelines and the pump sump for the pumping station at the Gamboa water treatment plant, which will serve Panama City. The characteristics of the intake and the pump sump are: • Intake: 2 pipelines OD=1800 mm PE100 of 46 and 54 m • Maximum design flow rates: 3.75 m3/s A detailed study has been carried out on the following aspects: • Hydraulic design of the intake pipelines • Structural and stability calculations of the pipelines • Hydraulic design of the pump sump and CFD model study • Geotechnical stability calculations of the pump sump • Structural design of the pump sump • Design of the riprap protection for the pump sump • Study of the construction procedure for the pump sump
