CONSTRUCTION PROJECT FOR GRANADILLA II PUMPING STATION. TENERIFE

[bloque_categoria_proyecto]
Scope:
Construction Project Design and construction supervision.
Location:
Tenerife, Spain

Design of the water intake caisson for the Granadilla Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plant in Tenerife.
The caisson is made of reinforced concrete. It has a length of 32.1 m with a beam of 10.3 m and a depth of 9.41 m. It must be stable while floating during certain phases of its construction. It is divided into two water intake channels with their corresponding gates, filters, and screens. The caisson supplies water to two delivery pumps and three cooling pumps.
The flow rate of each delivery pump is 3.05 m³/s. The flow rate of the cooling pumps is 0.69 m³/s per unit.
The project examines the hydraulic operation of the entire system.
Additionally, it explains and develops the construction process, adapting it to the means available on site: execution on a pontoon and flotation until anchoring.
