Project

Extension of the port breakwater by 100 m so that large cruise ships can berth more safely at the attached quay on the lee side. The main characteristics of the extended breakwater are:

• Caissons 27 m in height and 25 m in width.
• The depth at the toe of the berm is -62 m.
• Crown wall with wave return wall, with a crest elevation of +12.0 m.
• 300 t bollards.

The following works have been carried out:

• Geotechnical stability analysis of the breakwater.
• Structural analysis of the caisson.
• Design analysis of the berm protection.
• Analysis of mooring and berthing forces.
• Overtopping analysis.
• Structural analysis of the crown wall and the edge beam.
• Project to replace the bollards on the existing quay.
• Design verification using Level III methods.
