CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF THE MARINE PIPELINES FOR THE NABQ DESALINATION PLANT (EGYPT)

[bloque_categoria_proyecto]
Scope:
Conceptual design
Location:
Nabq (EGYPT)
Año:2022

The Project comprised the construction design of the desalination plant´s marine pipelines, together with the intake structures and the diffuser section. The solution will be designed on the offshore area and the near coast area with a tunnel construction method: horizontal directional drilling (HDD). The rest of the pipe in the onshore area will be built in trench.

Piping characteristics:

  • Material: HDPE100
  • Pipeline definitions: 1xOD=800 mm SDR 17 intake pipeline and 1xOD=630 mm SDR 17 outfall pipeline.
  • Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) length: 100 m Intake and 90 m outfall
  • Total length: 161 m intake (-5.8 m depth) and 160 m outfall (-9 m depth.)
  • Maximum flow rate: 1.06 m3/s from the intake and 0.66 m3/s from the outfall
  • Number and type of intake structures: 1 passive screen

Other project works:

  • Recirculation and near-field study (Mohid and brIHne model)
  • Marine beaconing
  • Wave study
