MARINE CLIMATE AND OUTFALL DISPERSION (DILUTION) STUDY FOR THE LUANDA SUBMARINE OUTFALL (ANGOLA). DETAILED ENGINEERING

[bloque_categoria_proyecto]
Scope:
DETAILED ENGINEERING
Location:
LUANDA (ANGOLA)

In support of the Basic Project, detailed engineering is carried out to study the following aspects of the project using mathematical models: • Marine climate study. Based on data from the Wavewatch II model used by NOAA, a wave record is obtained and propagated to the works area using the SMC model. These data form the basis for the pipe stability (ballasting) study, both during construction and in service. • Dispersion study of the WWTP outfall. For this, the MOHID model is used, which, based on wind, tide, etc. data and the diffuser definition, obtains the currents in the study area and, from these, the outfall dispersion is analysed. Initial dilution and secondary dilution are calculated, taking into account the bacterial mortality rate. The areas that comply with the environmental criteria established in the project are identified.
