This study is prepared to analyze the dispersion and recirculation of the brine discharged by the new seawater desalination plant to be built in the Barka industrial complex. Two highly validated and properly coupled models will be analyzed:1. For the near field: brIHne. The purpose of this part of the study is to design the diffuser. The minimum initial dilution achieved is 1:18. After analyzing different alternatives, a diffuser with 38 diffusers separated by 4.5 m with two nozzles at 35º is defined. The internal diameter of the nozzles is 115.4 mm.2. For the far field: MOHID. Using local conditioning factors (tide, drift current, wind, and bathymetry), the model calculates the hydrodynamics in the study area in 3D for the layers defined in the model. These hydrodynamics condition the dispersion of existing discharges and the discharge from the new desalination plant. The ultimate goal is to determine the salinity and temperature at the seawater intake points.
