The northern extension of the South Quay at the Port of Huelva was inaugurated in late March 2023. The project was designed by INCREA for the Port Authority, utilizing a sheet pile quay solution with a record height in Spain (a distance of 23.5 m between the bottom of the berth pocket and the coping level).

These works, executed by Ferrovial, extend the northern end of the quay by 525 linear meters, reaching a total of 1,200 meters, with a draft of 15 meters at low tide. This will allow two 6,400 TEU Post-Panamax container ships to be serviced simultaneously. Furthermore, in the medium term, it will increase the vessel draft to provide discharge points for the largest maritime container ships.

The inauguration was attended by the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, and the Secretary General for Transport and Mobility, María José Rallo.

Congratulations to the entire team that made the completion of this project possible!
