- Description:
The project included the design of the underwater pipelines for the future desalination and purification plant serving the districts of Punta Hermosa, Punta Negra, San Bartolo and Santa Marina including the intake structure and diffuser section.
The pipe characteristics are as follows:
• Material: PE100.
• Definition of pipes: intake Øo=1200 mm. Outfall Øo=900 mm supported on the bottom Øo=800 mm in a tunnel.
• Length: 779 m outfall and 517 m for the intake.
• Maximum flow rates (phase II): Intake: 1.23 m3/s and outfall: 1.5 m3/s
• Diffuser comprised of 5 raisers with double mouths.
A detailed study was completed of the following aspects:
• A study of the construction process (pipeline directional drilling and sinking).
• An outfall dilution study (brine, purified water and both together).
• A bibliography study of the local benthos.
• The intake structure (Johnson or Eurslot type).
