STUDY OF THE BOTTOM PULL CONSTRUCTION PROCESS FOR THE CHIRA TREATMENT PLANT DISCHARGE PIPELINE (PERU)

Marine pipelines

  • Start Date / End Date: 2013/2014
  • Scope: Detailed engineering
  • Description:

Design of the system via off-bottom pull with the support of chains

The pipeline characteristics are as follows:

      •     . Discharge flow rate: 11.3 m3/s

      •     . Inside diameter: 2,400 mm

      •     . Maximum depth: 60 m

      •     . Length: 3,627 m

Various jobs were done relating to the definition of the bottom pull construction process:

      •     . A current study (magnitude and direction)

          •     . The forces generated by the waves and the currents were estimated

          •     . The design of three types of floaters: flotation, regulation and pull

          •     . Modelling with 3D Structural Anaysis Software

          •     . The calculation and construction layout of the chains

          •     . The design of the tugging system: end pieces and cables, pulleys and their securing

          •     . The design of a complementary fixing system with anchors and cables
