SHUWEIHAT S-4 REVERSE OSMOSIS PLANT (ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES)
Underwater pipelines
- Place: ABU DHABI (UNITED ARAB EMIRATES)
- Scope: Tender project
- Description:
The project involved designing the lengthening of the existing seawater intake channel within the project allotment, the construction of the pumping station and the outfall system, which included two onshore ID 1,600 mm GRP reject pipelines and an outlet provided with a weir structure to discharge brine through the existing outfall channel for the 70 MIGD capacity S-4 RO plant. The pipelines characteristics:. Material: GRP. Outfall inner diameter: 1,600 mm. Outfall length: 2 x 2,085 mA detailed study of the following aspects was conducted:. The design of the intake channel cross section to avoid liquefaction.. The pumping station construction, using diaphragm walls.. The layout of the reject pipelines was carefully studied since the alignments crossed pre-existing pipelines racks which belonged to other facilities within the complex.. A recirculation analysis to confirm the discharge through the existing outfall channel would cause less environmental impact than through a new outfall pipeline.
