DISPERSION/EROSION AND FLOODING STUDY FOR LOS MINA C.C. CONVERSION PROJECT. SANTO DOMINGO (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC)

Submarine Pipes

  • Place: Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic)
  • Scope: Detail engineering
  • Description:

The study have two different parts:
    1. DISPERSION STUDY: To analyze the thermal dispersion of the aqueous effluents discharges from Los Mina Combined Cycle Power Plant into the Ozama River. The MOHID digital model was used. The object of this part is to evaluate the temperature needed in the terminal point to comply with the temperature guarantees (temperature increase of no more than 3ºC), in the edge of a radius of 100 m from the discharge point (point in which the creek leads to Ozama River).
    2. FLOODING AND EROSION STUDY: To analyse flooding and erosion of the creek and Ozama River caused by a rainfall of a 100 years return period in the basin and the runoff from the plant. The model used to study the behavior of the creek is the Hec-Ras 4.1.0 from the Hydrological Engineering Center of the US Army Corps of Engineers.
