- Start Date / End Date: 2012
- Place: ATACAMA (CHILE)
- Scope: Construction Project
- Description:
This project included the construction design of the desalination plant underwater pipelines including an intake structure and diffuser section.
The characteristics of the pipe are as follows:
• Material: PE100.• Definition of pipes: intake Øe=800 mm SDR 26 and outfall Øe=560 mm SDR 26• Length: 709 mm (outfall) and 510 mm (intake)• Maximum flow rates: intake: 3.6 m3/s and outfall: 0.76 m3/sA detailed study of the following aspects was conducted:
• Marine climate based on NOAA data.• The optimisation of the pipeline route pursuant to EIS and running along the concession area.• The sinking process.• A temporary platform for the surf zone.• An initial dilution study with the Visual Plumes software.• Auxiliary elements for proper operation: vent holes, anti-trawling devices, man-holes…
