ALTERNATIVE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT, SECOND STRETCH OF THE PORT OF GRANADILLA MULTI-PURPOSE QUAY
QUAYS
- Place: Tenerife, Spain
- Scope: Tender project
- Description:
The purpose of this Project is to define and assess the work necessary to build said infrastructure, modifying the Baseline Project by lightening the caissons and breadth switching from caissons with a shaft breadth of 16.75 m and a footing projection of 0.25 m to caissons with a shaft breadth of 16.9 m and slab foundation.
The number of caissons from the Baseline Project is maintained; in other words, five (5) as well as the length. Additionally, the final quay caisson is 2 m more in-depth meaning the foundation is at an elevation of -18.0 m, thereby enabling an increase in quay water depth of 18 m for a length of 30.05 m and so the future extension (a third phase) may be directly executed with a water depth of 18 m.
The Project includes the following work:
• Stability calculation (breadth) for caissons sunk at an elevation of -18. This breadth is maintained for all other caissons.
• Structural sizing of the caissons
• Naval stability calculation of the caissons
