INAUGURATION OF THE NORTHERN EXPANSION OF THE SOUTH QUAY AT THE PORT OF HUELVA

The northern expansion of the South Quay at the Port of Huelva was inaugurated at the end of March 2023. The project was designed by INCREA for the Port Authority using a sheet piling quay solution with a record-breaking height for Spain (distance between the bottom of the mooring pit and the capping beam, 23.5 m).

This construction work, which was done by Ferrovial, has extended the northern end of the quay 525 linear metres to now measure 1,200 metres with a 15-metre water depth at low tide, which will make it possible to simultaneously service two 6,400 TEU Post-Panamax container ships. Moreover, it will expand the ship draught to provide unloading points for larger container ships.

The inauguration featured the presence of the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno and the Secretary General for Transport and Mobility, María José Rallo.

Congratulations to the entire team who all made this work possible!
