STUDY OF CURRENTS AND BRINE DISPERSION FROM WASTEWATER FOR THE LIMA SOUTH PLANT (PERU)

Submarine pipes

  • Place: Lima (Peru)
  • Scope: Detailed study
  • Description:

A study was done to simulate the Lima desalination plant outfall. The wastewater is actually a mix of treatment plant and desalination plant outfall with hypersaline end outfall behaviour.
Included was a near field study using brIHne which was combined with the MOHID model.
The characteristics of the final model implemented are:
    •   3D to 14 layers
    •   Three nested meshes up to a resolution of 10 m.
    •   Agent modeling: wind, tide and Humboldt current.
