INCREA was the firm responsible for doing the marine works engineering in the tender phase as well as the Construction Project phase. The facility involved a total investment of €130 M, has a production capacity of 97,200 cubic metres a day, will supply drinking water to 300,000 residents and irrigation water for 8,000 hectares of land.

The seawater is collected through an intake pipe that is 1.6 kilometres long and the brine is discharged through a 2-kilometre outfall equipped with diffusers.  The discharge points were carefully studied in order to prevent any effects on the marine flora and fauna so that operations will always be environmentally friendly.
