    To support the Basic Project, detailed engineering was done using mathematical models to study the following aspects of the Project:

    • Marine climate study. A wave record was obtained from data from the Wavewatch II model used by the NOAA and the wave propagation was done to the worksite area using the SMC model.  These data serve as the basis for the pipe stability study (weighting) both in the construction as well as the service phase.
    • An outfall dispersion study of the waste water treatment plant. To do so, the MOHID model was used which obtains the currents in the study area from the wind, tide and other data and based on this as well as the definition of the diffuser, the outfall dispersion is studied. The initial dilution and the secondary dilution are calculated considering the rate of bacterial mortality.  The areas that comply with the environmental criteria established in the Project are thus obtained.
